Friends of Alfie Martin events
Each year we organise various events to help us raise awareness of the charity and the work we do to support the Leeds Centre for Newborn Care. The charity is made up entirely of volunteers, so all of the funds raised at our events go directly to purchase much-needed life-saving equipment.

Ladies Lunch
Celebrating 23 years of coming together to support critically sick babies across Yorkshire 💛✨
Our annual Ladies Lunch was filled with warmth, friendship, long-standing supporters, and some wonderful new faces too. A beautiful afternoon topped with an inspiring talk from @mikebates_official who truly captured the room.
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised an amazing £9,000 to help us continue improving neonatal care in our community. 🌼✨

Greens2Blue Midsummer Ball
We had the incredible @greens2blue Ball at @pavilions.weddings
in support of Alfie’s Charity and @maggiesyorkshire — and we’re over the moon to share that an amazing £100,000 was raised, with half coming to Alfie’s Charity! This means we can continue our vital work caring for critically sick babies across the Yorkshire region.

and @larkingrichardpatrick - we are so proud of you both and wish you the very best as you prepare for the @worlds.toughest.row this December.

Greens2Blue Golf Day
A fantastic day on the course for our Greens2Blue Golf Day fundraiser! ☀️⛳️
The weather held up beautifully, and our teams enjoyed some top-notch golf—all in support of an incredible cause.
We were raising funds for David & Richard as they take on the World’s Toughest Row 🌊🚣♂️—an epic challenge across the Atlantic.

Ladies Lunch
We were thrilled to welcome Yorkshire based Rachel Woolford who was the winner of last year’s BBC’s The Apprentice to our annual Ladies Lunch. Rachel shared with us her story of how she was inspired by her father from a very young age about business and where hard work and determination can get you. This was especially true as Rachel found herself opening a Boutique Fitness Studio in North Leeds just as the whole world was going into lockdown! It was interesting to hear about life in the Apprentice house, how she coped with not having any contact with her family for the time during filming and, yes, once that early morning wake up call goes they really do only have 20 minutes to get ready!
It was a wonderful afternoon seeing so many familiar faces and an amazing £10,500 was raised towards the charity. Thank you, as always, to everyone who came along and supported us !

Million Pound Ball
What an unforgettable night! The Million Pound Ball certainly did not disappoint – from the glamourous guests to the lovely venue, the delicious food and the fabulous entertainment, an amazing night was had by all. Our guest speaker Lawrence Miall, Consultant Neonatologist from the Leeds Centre for Neonatal Care, highlighted how important the equipment provided by the charity is to the centre and ultimately saving the lives of the poorliest babies in our region.
Consequently, our guests dug deep into their pockets, and we are delighted to say that the evening raised a staggering £70,000.

Ladies Lunch
Our guest speaker, Tracey Woodward, summed the event up when she said how wonderful it was to be in a room of gorgeous women for a lovely meal and to raise the profile of a very important cause. Tracey spoke of her amazing life story; she was raised by a single mum who engaged her at a young age in stealing from up-market department stores for ‘ladies of the night’ and how that set a fire in her belly to achieve financial security in life. She is now a successful venture capitalist investing in beauty and lifestyle businesses.
An amazing life story that we were all delighted to hear. As always, there was a lovely meal and the room was abuzz with chatter. We are delighted to report that this event raised a wonderful £7,000 this year.

Ladies Lunch
On 18th November 2022, we welcomed special guest speaker Alice Smellie, who spoke eloquently about menopause, to our annual Ladies Lunch. It’s safe to say that this was our most successful Ladies Lunch to date – we raised approximately £7,000.
We were delighted to see so many familiar faces, as well as some new ones, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal and lots of laughter. Thank you to everyone who attended – we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did!
